Actively involved in multiple training-related activities across many years and at local, state and national levels, Cindy Juntunen, PhD, has significantly contributed to policy making, advocacy, research, teaching, mentoring and administration. Her numerous accomplishments include chairing the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs (CCPTP) and the Council of Chairs of Training Councils, serving as an essential member of the Joint Conference of Training Councils, helping to develop competency benchmarks and addressing the internship-match imbalance. Her outstanding service has been recognized by her receipt of the APA Education Advocacy Distinguished Service Award.
Well-respected not only in CCPTP and the Society for Counseling Psychology, but in APA more broadly, she has a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of training in psychology. When asked to contribute, Juntunen does so graciously and professionally. Her positive energy and thoughtful intellectual engagement are only surpassed by her encyclopedic knowledge of psychology training-related acronyms.
