W. Gregory (Greg) Keilin, PhD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for making the psychology internship match a better, more just and humane process for our students and colleagues in health service psychology.
Keilin has made decades-long contributions as a former chair of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) Board of Directors, and as the associate director and training director of the Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin. In that role, he is revered by generations of students. But it is as the APPIC match coordinator that Keilin has most significantly contributed to the profession. Since first spearheading the APPIC Computerized Match in 1999, he has worked tirelessly as a superb administrator; reassuring guide and mentor to thousands of students; and vigorous and forceful advocate for correcting the internship imbalance, which creates great hardship for students and harm to our profession. The recipient of APA's Distinguished Award for Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology, he is recognized here for his reasoned, impassioned efforts to make right that which is wrong.
