Manuel Garcia, PhD, was awarded a 2019 APA Presidential Citation for his ongoing dedication to improving the lives of our nation’s military veterans.
Garcia is committed to developing and disseminating innovative new technology tools within the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve the delivery of high-quality, effective mental health care for veterans. Devoting his career as a psychologist to working within the VA, Garcia has served admirably as VA’s National Mental Health Director for Informatics, VA’s New Technologies Technical Assistance Coordinator, and Psychology Chief at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.
Garcia also served for many years as the lead psychologist planning the annual VA Psychologist Leadership Conference, a catalyst for bringing together senior VA leaders and supporting VA psychologists. For his use of technology to improve the mental health services provided veterans and for his long service to the Veterans Administration, I, Rosie Phillips Davis, present this presidential citation to Manual Garcia.
