Marc Eric Reyes, PhD, was awarded a 2022 Presidential Citation for his exceptional leadership of psychology in the Philippines and globally, and particularly his dedication to social issues and his commitment to mentorship.

Reyes is a prolific psychological scientist and has been an outstanding president of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP). He has (a) provided exemplary leadership in applying psychology to the rights of sexual and gender minorities, battling stigma and discrimination as part of PAP’s LGBT Special Interest Group, which has passed nondiscrimination policies; (b) published high-quality research; and (c) advocated for human rights policies at the national level. Moreover, he has conducted pioneering research on the effects of climate change on young Filipinos, raising awareness of a vital but understudied national issue.

Reyes has also demonstrated a commitment to developing the next generation of psychology leaders, actively integrating junior colleagues in international opportunities and mentoring upcoming scholars through participation in the Global Psychology Alliance’s (GPA) Learning Leadership Institute. He is a consistently active, engaging, and inclusive collaborator in GPA activities, contributing significantly to the advancement of global psychology.

In recognition of all of these contributions, I am pleased to present Reyes with this Presidential Citation.
