Nancy Sidun, PsyD, ABPP, ATR, is presented with a presidential citation for her exceptional leadership and dedication to bringing a feminist and social justice perspective to psychological science and practice and advancing human rights, health equity, and improving our treatment of survivors of human trafficking.

Sidun has a long history of service to psychology and the association. A clinical psychologist and art therapist in Honolulu, Hawai’i, Sidun served as the 2014 president of the Hawai’i Psychological Association. She is also a member of 26 APA divisions, and served as president of APA’s Division 52 (International Psychology), and chaired its International Committee for Women. She also served as treasurer and director-at-large for the International Council of Psychologists and served as an ambassador to Kosovo in APA’s International Learning Partner Program.

She cochaired the APA Task Force on Trafficking of Women and Girls, which called for the development and implementation of evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed services for survivors of human trafficking and for promoting the integration of behavioral health services in settings where trafficking survivors reside and receive services, including schools, victim services, communities, foster and residential care, juvenile justice, criminal justice, and health care. The task force report also informed the APA Council Policy Resolution on Human Trafficking in the United States, Especially of Women and Girls.

With more than 70 publications and presentations on combatting human trafficking, she continues her scholarship on these complex issues, including the intersectionality of climate change and increased risks for being trafficked.

For her lifetime of contributions to our field, it is my pleasure to present this presidential citation to Nancy Sidun.
