Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) is presented with a presidential citation for his steadfast leadership to safeguard the reproductive rights of women, protect our communities from gun violence, and expand access to behavioral health services for children in our schools. I commend his tireless efforts to combat regressive policies that threaten the lives of mothers of color and disproportionately impact the health of our most vulnerable families.

Since 2021, Senator Reverend Warnock has represented the state of Georgia in the United States Senate. As a leading voice for the protection of voting rights and civil rights, he has worked to ensure that all Americans have equal opportunities to participate in our democracy.

In his time in the Senate, he has been a tireless advocate for expanding Medicaid, which would improve access to affordable, reliable health care and mental health care for millions of uninsured Americans. To address the ongoing youth mental health crisis, he developed legislation that would expand federal support for training and funding mental health and substance use disorder care providers in schools to bring care where it is needed most.

As states across the country continue to restrict reproductive freedoms, he has introduced legislation to protect a woman’s right to cross state lines to access safe, legal reproductive health care.

He continues to press for additional public health approaches to reduce gun violence and elevate the voices of survivors. This year, he convened lawmakers, gun violence survivors, and gun safety advocates outside of the U.S. Capitol to uplift their personal stories of surviving and fighting against gun violence, demonstrate Americans’ widespread support for common-sense gun safety solutions, and make clear that Congress has an obligation to take the next steps to address the worsening gun violence crisis.

For his tireless and inspiring efforts, I am honored to present this presidential citation to Senator Reverend Warnock.
