Trisha Stark, PhD, MPP, LP, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her dedicated service to the Minnesota Psychological Association and the people of Minnesota.
While serving the Minnesota Psychological Association as president, director of professional affairs, executive director, legislative committee chair and consultant, Stark has advanced the practice of psychology and public policy. By advocating effectively for consultation to primary care providers, she has expanded psychologists’ scope of practice. She has helped to ensure appropriate education and training for all mental health professionals, while protecting the rights of psychologists to provide all the services for which they are trained and competent. Looking to the future, she leads efforts to ensure psychologists’ role in health care homes and efficient adoption of electronic health records. Working for the common good, valuing diversity and practicing compassion, Stark lives the mission of the Minnesota Psychological Association, “to serve the science of psychology and its applications throughout Minnesota so the interests of public welfare and psychologists are mutually enhanced.”
