(This is likely a bit unusual, but unusual times call for unusual nominations.)
I nominate Team APA, the Unsung APA COVID Heroes, for a Presidential Citation. It is difficult to single out one individual to be recognized for outstanding contributions during the COVID pandemic when so many in all sectors of psychology have contributed to adapting to and coping with COVID in many meaningful yet uniquely effective ways. Lives and professions have been altered to meet the needs of those we serve. Mental health providers on the front lines had to adapt quickly to tele-delivery. Academics immediately had to put courses online and find creative modes of course delivery and ways to support students; research labs and methods had to be modified. Organizations looked to applied psychologists to lead agile efforts to modify how we work. It takes APA unsung heroes working independently yet working together to successfully address the demands of COVID in so many sectors of our lives.
