CoA revised Section C of the Implementing Regulation (IR) book to align the text with the Standards of Accreditation (SoA). A part of the revision process included the reorganization of the IRs in this section. Effective Jan. 1, 2017, Section C will be divided into three subsections: doctoral, internship and postdoctoral residency.
- Discipline-specific knowledge (doctoral only).
- Faculty qualifications (doctoral only).
- Profession-wide competencies (one for each level).
- Intent to apply (one for each level).
- Accredited, on contingency (one for each level).
A number of existing IRs will sunset with the implementation of the SoA and are not included in the revised Section C. The information contained in the IRs scheduled to sunset are now addressed in new or updated IRs or are no longer relevant under the SoA. These IRs are:
- IR C-1: Systematic Evaluation of Supervision, Consultation, and Evaluation in Programs.
- IR C-16: Evaluating Program Adherence to the Principle of Broad and General Preparation.
- IR C-18: Core Faculty in Doctoral Programs.
- IR C-21: Programs Operating Outside the United States.
- IR C-22(a): Review of Programs Invoking Footnote 4.
The first page of each subsection contains a map linking the old numbering system to the new number system. All programs scheduled to submit a self-study on or after Sept. 1, 2016, are asked to refer to the revised Section C IRs when completing their self-study.
