On Feb. 7, 2018, the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) held its annual new member orientation. Three (3) new commissioners have joined the CoA this year: Drs. Matthew Johnson, Aaron Joyce and David Marcus. These new commissioners have been appointed for three-year terms.
Matthew Johnson joins the CoA in a seat nominated by the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology. He is professor of psychology and chairs the psychology department at Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY) in Binghamton, N.Y. Dr. Johnson completed his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and continues to research and publish in the areas of intimate relationships and families.
Aaron Joyce has joined the CoA in an open seat focused on representation from postdoctoral programs. Dr. Joyce lives in Albuquerque, N.M. and is director of psychology training at the Southwest Consortium Doctoral Internship and the New Mexico VA Health Care System Postdoctoral Residency Programs (all of which are APA-accredited). He is actively involved with the New Mexico Board of Psychology and the VA Psychology Training Council, and he completed his PhD in clinical psychology at Saint Louis University.
David Marcus comes to the CoA in a seat nominated by COGDOP. He is both chair and professor in the psychology department at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Dr. Marcus researches and publishes in the areas of psychopathy and personality, among others, and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals. He completed his PhD in clinical psychology at Clark University.
