The APA Commission on Accreditation (CoA) Master’s Work Group, formed in 2019, has continued the process of establishing standards for the evaluation of master’s degree programs in health service psychology. A set of standards were drafted, i.e., Standards for Accreditation for Health Service Psychology, Master’s Degree Programs (SoA-M) and were subsequently put forward for public comment in accordance with the APA “Policies for Accreditation Governance” and the U.S. Department of Education regulations for notice and comment twice. The CoA made the initial drafted standards available for a 90-day period of public review and comment. Following this period, comments were received and reviewed by the CoA prior to the July 2020 CoA Meeting, resulting in a second version of the SoA-M, which was put out for public comment for 60 days. These comments were received and reviewed at the October 2020 CoA Meeting, resulting in a final version of the SoA-M. The SoA-M has been submitted to the Board of Educational Affairs (BEA) as part of the process for APA Governance review.
