Through a partnership with Coursera, APA has introduced a trio of new PsycLearn courses: Methods for Quantitative Research in Psychology, Statistics in Psychological Research, and Ethics of Psychological Research. Together, these courses make up a Coursera specialization called Psychological Researchopens in new window. In succession, these courses introduce foundational concerns in quantitative research related to reliability and validity, introducing the major categories of research designs and the statistical methods commonly employed with each design, while emphasizing the ethical concerns that researchers face in the design and execution of their studies.
Separately, through a partnership with edX, APA has introduced three additional courses through which participants can acquire a Psychology in Action Professional Certificate | edXopens in new window. The courses in this program—Positive Psychology, Psychological Influences on Decision Making, and Gender and Sexuality—help participants apply psychological research to the world around them. The program addresses personal and real-world topics, including happiness and success; equity, diversity, and inclusivity; decision making at home, school, and work; and gender and sexuality. Completion of this program will help learners lead a more informed life, with greater insight into the psychological theories and principles that influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors on a daily basis.
