The Center for Gifted Education Policy (CGEP), which is housed in APA’s Education Directorate, focuses on gifted and talented PreK-12 education, teaching, and learning. CGEP is also particularly interested in researching the role of psycho-social skills in talent development and high performance in all domains.
Mission
- Develop and strengthen linkages between psychology/psychologists and gifted and talented education/educators.
- Generate public awareness, advocacy, clinical applications and cutting-edge research ideas that will enhance the achievement and performance of children and adolescents with special gifts and talents in all domains, including:
-Academic disciplines.
-Performing arts.
-Sports.
-Professions.
- Work collaboratively with other national gifted and talented education organizations to disseminate knowledge/best practices.
- Provide APA members and the general public with information pertaining to schooling, parenting and the development of careers.
