Description
In this program, psychologist Jeff Zimmerman, PhD, ABPP, will be joined by a professional development consultant to discuss common pitfalls made by mental health professionals, how professional development consultants can help in a preventative manner, and important, but often overlooked, reasons for seeking consultation. Ways to find and engage professional development consultants will also be addressed.
More specifically, the program will address the following:
- The need for lifelong professional development—for example, how professional development is imperative in other countries such as Ireland where it is linked to license renewal.
- Myths around competency and practice.
- Myths around the lack of need for professional development, supervision, and mentoring postlicensure.
- How a consultant can help a solo and group practice develop a strategic plan for professional development.
This program is part of the series Building and Sustaining a Thriving Private Practice: When to Call in Outside Help.
