Description
In this program, psychologist Jeff Zimmerman, PhD, ABPP, will be joined by a risk management consultant to discuss common pitfalls made by mental health professionals, how risk management consultants can help in a preventative manner, and important, but often overlooked, reasons for seeking consultation. Ways to find and engage risk management consultants will also be addressed.
More specifically, the program will address the following:
- Common risk management vulnerabilities (e.g., confidentiality, lack of informed consent, inadequate record-keeping and how consultants may help).
- Less common but significant risk management vulnerabilities and how consultants may help (e.g., managing the risk from employees and subcontractors in a group practice, an absence of pertinent policies and procedures—even in the solo practice, etc.).
- What risk management consultants cannot provide (e.g., how to best balance and respond to a matrix of risks on an issue).
This program is part of the series Building and Sustaining a Thriving Private Practice: When to Call in Outside Help.
For NY psychologists: This program does not meet NYSED CE requirements.
