Description
Presenters discuss the benefits and challenges of conducting research across cultures. Issues related to the translation and adaptation of tests from one language and culture to another, along with the strengths and weaknesses of doing so, are examined. Weschler scales and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory as well as neuropsychological tests from English to Spanish are presented from practical as well as political perspectives. Presenters also discuss Network for International Collaborative Exchange (NICE), Psi Chi’s crowd-sourced data collection research project, which has worked through various obstacles to adapt research measures for data collection in 17 languages.
