Description

Building a practice that facilitates access and equity necessitates the fostering of cultural humility and emotional intelligence. Psychologists must strategically invest in their own development of cultural humility, and must engage cultural humility with clients, peer psychologists, as well as within the culture of their practices and/or organizations. This presentation will overview the tenets of cultural humility and their relationship to emotional intelligence. Psychologists will understand how engaging cultural humility leads to increases in access and equity in practice and learn strategies to foster their own development.

Learning objectives

  • Develop an understanding of cultural humility, emotional intelligence, and their relationship to equitable practice.
  • Identify three key strategies to employ to deepen their engagement in cultural humility across self, peer psychologists, clients, and within the culture of their practices/organizations.
