Description

Group therapy is as effective as individual therapy for a wide range of conditions, and more efficient, but requires a specific set of skills. In group therapy settings, therapists should strive to build cohesion and a sense of belonging, including safety for group members with marginalized identities. This article discusses the benefits of group therapy and situations for which group therapy might be preferable to individual, as well as strategies for building cohesion and managing conflict in groups.
