Description
APA is pleased to bring you this webinar designed to enhance psychologists’ awareness of, and contribution to, other professionals who provide critical public service.
This workshop draws on the expertise of clinical psychologists with over 25 years combined experience working with the emergency responders. Gulliver will present an overview of a clinician training protocol developed for one branch of emergency response (fire service) that has been pilot tested with three groups of clinicians. The workshop is designed for psychologists who are interested in working with emergency service members. It is ideal for clinicians working in private practice, behavioral health treatment programs, employee assistance programs, or those interested in collaboration with peer support teams. This workshop will teach clinicians to: 1) better understand the common barriers providers meet when attempting to deliver evidence-based care in these unique occupational cultures; 2) identify foundational principles specific to the treatment of active duty emergency response members; 3) build a successful therapeutic alliance with challenging clients; and 4) apply best practices to achieve positive treatment outcomes with clients.
See complementary webinar Public Service Psychologists’ Role: Training of Interdisciplinary Mental Health Front-Line Workers.
