Description

The rise in co-response programs has led to programs being developed quickly without focus and attention on social work ethics and principles. This webinar will focus on both published literature and anecdotal evidence of the ethical complexities of this emerging field of social work. We will dive into the code of ethics and applicable state and federal laws. We will explore how ethical dilemmas may arise in community crisis situations. The Code of Ethics of Police and Firefighters will also be discussed and compared to that of the social work Code of Ethics.

Learning objectives

  • Discuss common complex ethical issues that can arise when responding to a community crisis.
  • Expand knowledge related to the NASW Code of Ethics and how it can help guide a practice.
  • Develop an understanding of how NASW Code of Ethics is similar and different than the Code of Ethics for first responders.
