Description
This presentation proposes and propounds that hypnosis, as a performance and act, is therapeutic. The webinar explicates the applications and implications of hypnosis as a therapeutic intervention and will demonstrate how locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary modes of hypnosis can be of significance in treating depression. The webinar also elucidates the role of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in empowering depressed people to gain a sense of agency.

Presenter
Sayyed Mohsen Fatemi
Fatemi completed his postdoctoral studies in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University, where he also served as a teaching fellow, an associate, and a fellow. His publications appear in Springer, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Lexington, and journals such as APA’s Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology and the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, among others.
Fatemi is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at York University, Canada, where he also serves as a course director and teaches various courses in psychology.
