Description

This workshop will offer an in-depth exploration of grief through two modules. The Phenomenology of Grief module will introduce grief-related terminology, utilizing a biopsychosocial framework to examine diverse presentations, features, and correlates of the grief experience. The Contemporary Perspectives and Evidence-Informed Models of Grief module will describe influential theories of grief, exploring how grief evolves over time, and discuss its public health implications. Learners will also receive guidance on how grief theories can be translated into psychoeducation for clinical practice. Together, these modules will provide an understanding of the complexities of grief and practical strategies for supporting bereaved individuals.

Learning objectives

  • Define and differentiate grief-related terminology, theories, and models of grief.
  • Identify the features, correlates, and presentations of grief using a biopsychosocial framework.
  • Describe contemporary theories of grief and translate them into psychoeducation for clinical practice.
