Description
Technology in psychological practice can be viewed as a form of scaffolding. It is suggested that its suitability can be assessed based on whether it is complementary or competitive to the intended aims of an intervention. In this practical webinar, three types of complementarity are considered—that of working alliance, incorporation, and entrainment—in the context of a range of technological supports, including AI, experiential technology, and telehealth. The role of technology is analyzed from the lenses of clinical practice, population health, and policy making. Participants are invited to consider the implications of technology in their field.
Learning objectives
- Demonstrate recognition of the role of technology in psychological practice.
- Use a toolkit to assess its suitability on three levels.
- Demonstrate awareness of digitalization trends.
