Description
Most psychology graduate programs give only cursory attention to family, couple, and systems therapy, creating a need for well-trained providers. Even though common modalities exist that can help most couples improve or make clearer decisions about their relationship, these evidence-based modalities require providers to seek out specialized training. This article discusses the best evidence-based treatments for addressing couple issues in therapy, identifies common types of challenging couple cases and how to treat them, while discussing how to receive optimal training.
