Description
Are you wary of the role of technology in mental health? Excited about technology’s potential, but not sure where to start? This introductory workshop is for you. The presenter reviews types of digital mental health interventions, explores how these interventions mitigate barriers to service, evaluates data on their utility, and examines the rapidly growing developments in cultural adaptation. Although the presenter has conducted research on digital technologies for anxiety for 20+ years, she does not consider herself “a technology person.”
Learning objectives
- Describe two different types of digital technologies used to improve mental health and the empirical evidence of their utility.
- Name two barriers to accessing mental health care and how technology can be used to mitigate them.
- Describe a digital mental health intervention that has been culturally adapted.
