Dominique Chao, PsyD, LP Dear Early Career Psychologists,

As I step into the role of chair of the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP), I am delighted to welcome you to a new year filled with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and impact. The early career years are a transformative time, and CECP is here to support you as you navigate the opportunities, challenges, and transitions that define this stage of professional development.

Our work for the year ahead is focused on amplifying your voices, expanding our community, and strengthening meaningful resources and connections to support your professional journey. We are committed to:

  • Raising awareness of CECP resources: From our mentorship directory to the ECP listservopens in new window and grant resources, we continue to prioritize visibility and accessibility of tools designed to help you thrive.
  • Fostering engagement within the APA community: This year, we aim to deepen dialogue, create dedicated spaces that reflect diverse identities and career pathways, and recognize the valuable contributions of ECPs. Together, we will continue building a hub for connection, collaboration, and shared learning.
  • Supporting professional transitions: We are committed to developing and expanding pathways and resources that support key professional transitions—whether moving from graduate training to independent practice, entering academic or leadership roles, or navigating evolving career trajectories. This includes professional development opportunities, webinars, and convention programming tailored to the needs of ECPs.

These goals reflect more than initiatives—they represent our ongoing commitment to cultivating a supportive, inclusive, and impactful community for all early career psychologists. Your participation is central to this work. Whether you engage in discussions on the ECP Community Page, share your expertise, or explore CECP resources, your involvement strengthens our collective efforts.

Your ideas, experiences, and needs guide our work. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any CECP member with questions, feedback, or suggestions.

Together, let’s make this year one of progress, connection, and shared success for ECPs. On behalf of the CECP, welcome. We are honored to support you and look forward to working alongside you.

With enthusiasm and gratitude,
Dominique (Dom) Chao, PsyD
