Dr. Canady, a social and clinical psychologist, held many academic positions, including serving as the chair of the psychology department at the West Virginia Collegiate Institute (now West Virginia State College). Dr. Canady served as an expert witness for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in segregation and employment discrimination cases.
Dr. Canady’s research focused on how racial biases influence IQ testing. He was the first person to examine how the race of the examiner could influence IQ scores.
