Volunteer as an ISEF judge
The 2027 ISEF will be held in Los Angeles, California, May 8–14, 2027, with judging taking place May 11–12.
APA welcomes local and virtual volunteer judges to help evaluate and recognize outstanding student research in psychological science. Psychologists, researchers, educators, and advanced graduate students can contribute their expertise, learn about emerging research, and engage with some of the world’s most promising young scientists.
ISEF judge eligibility requirements
ISEF judges must meet one of the following to be eligible to serve as a judge:
- Have a PhD, MD, or equivalent with related experience (K–12 teaching experience is not considered related experience) OR
- Be a graduate student with 4+ years doctoral research experience or within one year of dissertation defense OR
- Have 6+ years related professional experience beyond a bachelor’s degree
If you meet the eligibility requirements and are interested in judging for APA, please contact via APA Science.
Additional opportunities: Judge at a science fair near you
APA members are also encouraged to volunteer as judges at ISEF-affiliated regional science fairs. Each year, thousands of students present original research projects at these events, providing opportunities to support local students conducting psychological science research and help prepare them for higher levels of competition.
Regional science fair judging opportunities
Interested in judging at a regional science fair? Use Society for Science’s Find a Fairopens in new window tool to locate ISEF-affiliated fairs, view dates and deadlines, and register to volunteer. Most fairs accept judge applications until approximately 1 week before the event.
