Youth mental health: Assessment to intervention
Pearson
December 2023
Youth are experiencing mental health issues at staggering rates, leading to a need for improved identification practices to ensure they can access services and supports. Timely and accurate identification requires the application of two best practices that will allow practitioners to move from the tradition of relying on clinical assessments with static psychometric properties to a fluid approach to identification and intervention.
Learning objectives
- Expand the use of differentiating assessment processes, methods, and measures by including a broader repertoire of tools and new types of information.
- Connect assessment results with interventions and services to better guide these efforts and provide a baseline for monitoring progress.
- These best practices lead to more comprehensive assessment and improved identification, classification, and differentiation to support children with more efficacy based on their specific areas of need.
