Description
This workshop is designed to help you practice cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) in culturally responsive ways. Using the ADDRESSING framework, we’ll consider influences related to Age and generational roles, Disability, Religion and spirituality, Ethnic and racial identity, Socioeconomic status, Sexual orientation, Indigenous heritage, National origin, and Gender. Learn how to inspire clients with a Personal Strengths Inventory that incorporates culturally based strengths; avoid the biggest CBT mistake of premature cognitive restructuring; and develop culturally congruent homework. Specific cultural adaptations will include Compassion Voice, Attitude of Gratitude, Wise Elder, Most Generous Interpretation Technique, and the use of metaphors.
