$10,000 for research on self-identity and academics
The American Psychological Foundation (APF) Kenneth B. and Mamie P. Clark Grant provides up to $10,000 to support graduate student research and demonstration activities that promote the understanding of the relationship between self-identity and academic achievement, with an emphasis on children in grades K-8. The proposal deadline is June 15.
$5,000 for research on stigma
The APF Violet and Cyril Franks Scholarship provides up to $5,000 to support graduate-level research that uses a psychological perspective to help understand and reduce stigma associated with mental illness. The proposal deadline is May 15.
Up to $5,000 for graduate student research
APF and the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology provide 16 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for psychology graduate student research. The application deadline is June 30.
Up to $5,000 for dissertation research
APA's Science Directorate offers several grants of up to $5,000 and 30 to 40 grants of $1,000 each for dissertation research costs. The application deadline is Sept. 15. (2014 winners)
$2,500 for neuropsychology research
The American Psychological Foundation offers two $2,500 Benton-Meier Neuropsychology Scholarships for graduate students enrolled in neuropsychology programs. The application deadline is June 1.
$2,000 for dissertation research
The F.J. McGuigan Dissertation Award provides up to $2,000 to support dissertation research oriented toward advancing a unified concept of brain and behavior. The application deadline is June 1.
$1,000 for early graduate school research
APA's Science Student Council offers $1,000 Early Graduate Student Researcher awards for research within the first two years of doctoral study. Funds may be used for direct research expenses such as computer time, software and animal care, but not for tuition, fees or personal expenses. The application deadline is Sept. 15. (2014 winners)
$1,000 for training and education in professional practice
The APAGS David Pilon Scholarship for Training in Professional Psychology is a $1,000 scholarship that supports supplemental training and education experiences in professional practice. The funds must support future training and education, not previous work. The application deadline is May 6.
$1,000 for educational psychology research
The APA Div. 15 Dissertation Research Grants support educational psychology doctoral students who are collecting their dissertation data. Two grants of $1,000 each are awarded. Winners are announced at APA's 2015 Annual Convention in Toronto, Aug. 6-9.
$1,000 for convention travel
The Paul Henkin School Psychology Travel Grants provide two $1,000 travel grants for student members of APA Div. 16 (School) to help offset travel costs to APA's 2015 Annual Convention in Toronto, Aug. 6-9. The application deadline is April 15.
$1,000 for LGBT education projects
APAGS and the Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity award a $1,000 grant for a project that promotes training and educational experiences in LGBT practice. Examples include, but are not limited to: workshops, conferences, speaker series, mentorship programs and the development of student organizations with a focus on LGBT concerns. The application deadline is May 6.

Join APA's Federal Action Network
Students are encouraged to join APA's Federal Action Network, an initiative to help psychologists and graduate students advocate more easily for important issues affecting psychology, such as federal science funding and mental health on college campuses. Members receive email action alerts on legislative issues with instructions on how to send messages or make phone calls to members of Congress. Sign up.
Apply for the APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship
APAGS and Psi Chi encourage new graduate students to apply for the Junior Scientist Fellowship, which funds direct research costs of first- and second-year graduate research projects. The fellowship also prepares students to apply for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Applicants must be members of APAGS and Psi Chi. Applications are due June 30.
Serve as an APAGS ambassador at convention
Maximize your networking opportunities by serving as an APAGS Ambassador at APA's 2015 Annual Convention in Toronto, Aug. 6-9. Ambassadors monitor APAGS programs, provide information to convention attendees and distribute promotional items to students.
Apply for the Award for a Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology
The APA/APAGS Award for a Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology honors a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding practice and application of psychology. The application deadline is June 1. Information on all APAGS grants and awards, which have deadlines throughout the year.

Undergraduates and other prospective graduate school applicants can learn more about applying to psychology graduate school with a new APAGS webinar on choosing among and affording graduate programs in psychology. Write for the APA Public Interest Directorate newsletter
APA's Public Interest Directorate invites students to contribute articles on public interest-related issues such as child abuse or race relations to the "A Student's Perspective" section of its newsletter "In the Public Interest." Interested students should contact G. Tina Wolridge.
Be a health equity ambassador
Graduate students are encouraged to apply to be health equity ambassadors through APA's Health Disparities Strategic Initiative, which aims to increase support for research, training and public interventions that improve health and reduce health disparities among vulnerable populations. Ambassadors receive free training via webinars on health equity topics and are eligible for mini-grants of up to $500 for smoking-cessation activities. Attend the Summer Institute in Social and Personality Psychology
Social and personality psychology graduate students are encouraged to attend the two-week Summer Institute in Social and Personality Psychology, to be held in Boston, July 19-Aug. 1. Up to 80 predoctoral students in social and personality psychology are eligible for the institute, which is sponsored by APA's Div. 8 (Society for Personality and Social Psychology) with funding from the National Science Foundation. Top researchers and teachers in the field will offer courses on emotion/affect, intergroup relations and disparities, morality, personality development and evolutionary processes. Instructors will also offer workshops on data analytic techniques and research methodologies. Registration is $200 and covers tuition, housing and accommodations. Limited scholarships are also available for registration and travel.

APA has developed three free PsycINFO training webinars to help people improve their use of APA's research databases. The series features three 30-minute sessions: Basic Search, Advanced Search and Results Management. The sessions may be taken separately, but students are encouraged to take all three. APAGS encourages members to vote for the next group of APAGS leaders April 1-30. All APAGS members who have an email address on file with APA will receive an election ballot.
Nominate an outstanding librarian
Graduate students are encouraged to nominate a librarian from their university for APA's eighth annual Excellence in Librarianship Award, to be presented at the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco in June. The award includes a $2,500 check and an inscribed plaque. The nomination deadline is April 20.

Look up APA-accredited doctoral, internship and postdoctoral residency programs with a new search tool developed by APA's Commission on Accreditation. The tool enables people to search for accredited programs using a variety of different fields, such as by state, practice area or setting type.
