Game-Based Assessment for Learning
August 2021
Technology is becoming a core part of many psychological testing and assessment practices in various contexts (education, workplace, clinical, forensic), innovating ways in which data are collected, analyzed, and interpreted. While such innovations offer exciting possibilities for psychological research and practices, they also pose several new challenges associated with validity, reliability, and fairness/bias as well as with ethical and practical concerns.
This video focuses on game-based assessment for learning. Three experts answer the following questions:
- What kinds of existing game-based assessment approaches do you find most exciting in the learning context, and why?
- Where do you think the research and practice of game-based assessment are heading next?
- What do you think is the most critical issue to overcome in this domain, and why?
- Are there any risks/downsides of this type of technology? Any policy implications?
