Assessing Individual Attributes Using Online Behavioral Data
August 2021
Technology is becoming a core part of many psychological testing and assessment practices in various contexts (education, workplace, clinical, forensic), innovating ways in which data are collected, analyzed, and interpreted. While such innovations offer exciting possibilities for psychological research and practices, they also pose several new challenges associated with validity, reliability, and fairness/bias as well as with ethical and practical concerns.
This video focuses on assessing individual attributes using online behavioral data. Two experts answer the following questions:
- What types of online behavioral data seem to be most useful in measuring individuals’ psychological attributes?
- Are there any risks or downsides of this type of technology? Any policy implications?
