Have questions?
Please read the FAQ section below for detailed answers to all of your questions about APA and APA Services, Inc. If you don’t see an answer to your question, please contact an APA Member Service representative.
No. All individuals are dual members of APA and APA Services.
Member dues payments are allocated between APA and APASI at 40% and 60% respectively. This allocation affects the deductibility and tax treatment of the dues amounts.
APA dues may be deductible as charitable contributions (less the value of any goods or services received). In return for your APA dues payment, you are receiving goods consisting of APA publications that are valued at $18 plus the value of your division journals listed in the right-hand column. You must subtract the total of those amounts from the APA portion of the dues payment; the remaining payment to APA is tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
APASI dues are not deductible as charitable contributions; however, dues payments may be deductible as a business expense subject to the following notice. APASI estimates that 12 percent of your dues to APASI are not deductible as a business expense because this amount is allocable to APASI’s lobbying activities on behalf of its members. Consult your tax advisor with additional questions regarding tax deductibility of dues payments and contributions.
Yes! Please note that voluntary contributions to the Fund are, however, not tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
