American Psychological Association. (2010, October 1). Canter wins Fowler award. Monitor on Psychology, 41(9). https://www.apa.org/monitor/2010/10/fowler-award

APA’s Council of Representatives presented the 2010 Raymond D. Fowler award to Mathilda B. Canter, PhD, of Phoenix, for her more than 44 years of service to APA as a governance volunteer, an advocate for psychology, a fundraiser for the American Psychological Foundation and mentor to dozens of up-and-coming psychologists.

A former member of APA’s Board of Directors, Canter has also chaired APA’s Ethics Committee, served on a number of APA boards and committees, and on Council for 16 years. Among Arizona Psychological Association members, Canter is known as a consensus builder and “role model of professionalism.”

“Her well-developed sense of fairness and responsibility,” says the citation, “and the laudable ability to see beyond personal interests to achieve the needs of the association, have led her to become one of APA’s most valued members.”
