Decision explores judgment and decision-making

Jerome Busemeyer, PhD APA launched a new multidisciplinary journal, Decision, in January to cover neural, cognitive, social and economic aspects of judgment and decision-making. Its editor, Jerome Busemeyer, PhD, of Indiana University, says he's looking for three types of submissions: long theoretical articles that present important new theory, shorter empirical articles that are theoretically driven and short reviews of rising issues and new topics. Busemeyer is provost professor in Indiana's department of psychological and brain sciences, where he studies various models of judgment, decision-making and learning, and methodology for comparing complex models of behavior.

New editor for Couple and Family Psychology

Thomas Sexton, PhD Thomas Sexton, PhD, of Indiana University, is the new editor of Couple and Family Psychology: Research and Practice. Sexton, who directs the Center for Adolescent and Family Studies and is a professor in the School of Education's counseling psychology program, aims to "bring research to practice and practice to research" in the field by covering core practice and science issues in the field including relationship patterns, intervention programs and case studies. Every year, two of the journal's four issues will focus on a major topic in the field. "Our goal is to bring a sense of dialogue and exchange of ideas around the core issues in couple and family psychology," Sexton says.

Motivation Science will launch in 2015

Deborah Prentice, PhD In January, APA will begin publishing Motivation Science, a multidisciplinary journal dedicated to the study of motivation, goal-directed behavior and self-regulation. As one of the first platforms to publish contributions to these topics from across psychology, neuroscience, and the behavioral and social sciences, the journal seeks to advance the science of motivation by encouraging researchers to think and talk across traditional disciplinary boundaries, says its editor, Deborah Prentice, PhD, chair of Princeton University's psychology department. Motivation Science will publish primarily empirical articles that explore the motivational underpinnings of behavior and behavior change.
