Div. 15 announces next editor of its journal Educational Psychologist
Div. 15 (Educational) named Kathryn Wentzel, PhD, as incoming editor of its journal Educational Psychologist. Her five-year term begins in January. Wentzel is a professor of human development at the University of Maryland, College Park.She is editor of the Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology and a fellow of both Div. 15 and the American Educational Research Association. Div. 17 spotlights social justice
Div. 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) is hosting programming on social justice topics during APA's 2014 Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., Aug. 7–10. Counseling psychologists will present symposia on privilege, advocacy, integrated primary care for underserved populations, support for transgender college students and resilience in African-American families. Div. 18 to host webinar on postdocs
Div. 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) is hosting a one-hour webinar for students on postdoc opportunities in public service psychology on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. EST. Speakers will describe different types of postdocs in public mental health settings, how to apply for them and the experience and qualities trainings sites are looking for in applicants. Follow the latest research on children's mental health
Div. 37 (Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice) has published the proceedings of the national summit, "Healthy Development Summit II: Changing Frames and Expanding Partnerships to Promote Children's Mental Health and Social/Emotional Wellbeingopens in new window." Division members presented the report's findings at a May 21 congressional briefing as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. Speakers included APA President-elect Barry Anton, PhD; Rick Barth, PhD, president of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare; Div. 37 President-elect Mary Ann McCabe, PhD; and Don Wertlieb, PhD, past-president of the American Orthopsychiatric Association.
