Each summer, APA offers Advanced Training Institutes (ATIs) to expose psychological scientists to emerging technologies and the most current research methodologies. ATIs provide training and hands-on experience in a variety of areas, including statistical and computational techniques and research with culturally diverse populations.

These classes are hosted each summer at prominent research institutions across the United States, such as the University of California, Davis, and Michigan State University. ATIs attract participants from across the United States and around the world.

Psychological scientists — new and established faculty, postdoctoral fellows, scientists and advanced graduate students — are invited to apply. APA membership is not required for acceptance, but members do receive tuition discounts. The criteria used to select course attendees can be viewed at ATI criteria. Applications for each program can be submitted by following the links on each individual ATI program's website.

The 2015 APA Advanced Training Institutes are:

  • Structural Equation Modeling in Longitudinal Research, Arizona State University, May 26–30.
  • Big Data: Exploratory Data Mining in Behavioral Research, Arizona State University, June 1–5.
  • Research Methods with Diverse Racial and Ethnic Groups, Michigan State University, June 8–12.
  • Nonlinear Methods for Psychological Science, University of Cincinnati, June 15–19.
