American Psychological Association. (2015, June 1). Apply for one-year fellowship at the World Health Organization. Monitor on Psychology, 46(6). https://www.apa.org/monitor/2015/06/upfront-fellowship

APA and the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) are now accepting applications for the new APA-IUPsyS Global Mental Health Fellowship program.

This program provides a unique opportunity for a psychologist to spend one year in Geneva, Switzerland, at the World Health Organization (WHO), in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. The Fellow will focus on one or more issues related to the WHO Mental Health Action Planopens in new window.

Although the program provides the opportunity to work at WHO on mental health issues, this program does not provide full funding for the fellowship year. The fellow will receive modest support for additional living costs in Geneva and related travel. This support is intended to supplement the fellow's regular source of income.

The call for applications is directed to doctoral-level psychologists at all career levels, who can show demonstrated research experience and leadership relevant to the WHO Mental Health Action Plan. The work will focus on one or more of the following areas: behavioral health, clinical interventions, prevention of mental disorders, health promotion, health systems issues, and public policy for mental health.

The deadline for applications is Aug. 30, 2015. It is anticipated that the fellowship year will begin in 2016. For more information, please see Global Health Fellowship.
