Robert Cohen, PhD, of the University of Memphis, was awarded a Dunavant Faculty Professorship by the University's College of Arts and Sciences. The award includes $5,000 per year for three years to support his research program, which explores children's social development, with a focus on peer relations.

Massachusetts General Hospital's department of psychiatry and its Psychiatry Center for Diversity presented Jessica Henderson Daniel, PhD, with the 2015 Frances J. Bonner, MD, Diversity Award. The annual award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of mental health and the care of minority communities. Daniel is an associate professor of psychology in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. At Boston Children's Hospital, she is the director of training in psychology in the department of psychiatry.

Sage Publications has recognized Jacob Jacoby, PhD, as part of its Legends in Consumer Behavior series. Jacoby is the Merchants Council Professor of Consumer Behavior at New York University's Stern School of Business.

The Joint Commission has appointed neuropsychologist Monica Kurylo, PhD, to serve on its Behavioral Health Professional and Technical Advisory Committee. The committee oversees all of the standards and policies related to behavioral health for the Joint Commission, the agency that accredits health-care organizations and programs in the United States. Kurylo began the six-year position on Jan. 1. She is an associate professor and director of Neurorehabilitation Psychology Services at the University of Kansas Medical Center, as well as the neuropsychologist for the Center for Concussion Management at the University of Kansas Hospital.

University of California Berkeley has presented the Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence to Rodolfo Mendoza-Denton, PhD. The $10,000 prize honors a faculty member who promotes diversity and inclusion. Mendoza-Denton, who does research on stigma and bias, plans to use the prize to fund student psychology research projects on diversity and inclusion.

The Texas Psychological Association named Megan Mooney, PhD, Psychologist of the Year for 2015, recognizing her efforts to advance legislation improving access to mental health services in the state. Mooney is staff psychologist supervisor at DePelchin Children's Center in Houston.

Lara Ray, PhD, an associate professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, received the Young Investigator Award from the Research Society on Alcoholism for her contributions to the etiology and treatment of alcoholism. The award recognizes research excellence, the potential to be a future leader and a commitment to the alcohol field. Ray's lab studies the clinical neuroscience of addiction, integrating clinical psychology, pharmacology and behavioral genetics.

APA has promoted its chief financial officer Archie Turner to a new position, chief operating officer. In the new role, Turner will provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the association has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure its financial strength and operating efficiency.

University of Virginia presented the Thomas Jefferson Award for Scholarship to Timothy D. Wilson, PhD. It is the highest honor for university staff. Wilson is the author of the best-selling textbook "Social Psychology" and is an expert on self-knowledge and affective forecasting.
