Two new APA journals — Stigma and Health and The Humanistic Psychologist   — debut this month.

Stigma and Health The Humanistic Psychologist Stigma and Health features research on how stigma affects people living with mental and physical illness. Content will include qualitative studies, survey research and quantitative tests of hypotheses about the form and impact of stigma. The journal also welcomes theoretical reviews, pioneering reports and research studies on ways to erase the stigma of mental and physical illnesses. "Stigma and Health is meant to encourage robust theory development and empirical testing to inform advocates challenging stigma," says its editor, Patrick W. Corrigan, PsyD, of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Learn more about the journal.

The Humanistic Psychologist is the official journal of APA's Div. 32 (Society for Humanistic Psychology). It was previously published by Taylor & Francis Publishing. APA took over the publication this month and will publish the first issue in March.

Editor Scott D. Churchill, PhD, views the move to APA as a way to attract more researchers, practitioners and academicians who are passionate about human science and its possibilities for holistic research, personal development and social justice. "We offer alternatives to many common assumptions about what psychology can be," he says.

The journal has "led psychology in the development of qualitative methods and their integration with quantitative methods and continues to invite, host and shepherd methodological innovations," he adds. The journal also promotes person-centered, existential, constructivist and transpersonal theories and psychotherapies; and articles grounded in phenomenological, hermeneutic, critical, feminist and multicultural perspectives. "We are a movement that has been continually changing and creatively contributing to contemporary psychology."
