Jeffrey Barnett, PsyD, has received the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, and was the school's commencement speaker this year. The school also established an academic scholarship fund in his name. Barnett is the associate dean for the social sciences and graduate programs and professor of psychology at Loyola University Maryland.

The University of Nevada–Las Vegas has named Ronald T. Brown, PhD, dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences. Brown comes from the University of North Texas System, where he is associate vice chancellor, overseeing health affairs for three campuses and 42,000 students.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has selected Daniel Bruns, PsyD, to serve on a panel that will advise a quality measure development project for the Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program. The measures will assess the effectiveness of health-care delivery systems and to support states' efforts to accelerate new payment and service delivery reforms. Bruns is a private practitioner in Greeley, Colorado, with expertise in psychological assessment and medical economics.

The Canadian Psychological Association has given Joel Katz, PhD, its Donald O. Hebb Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology as a Science. Katz, a professor at York University in Toronto, specializes in pain research.

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation has presented Alfonso Martínez-Taboas, PhD, with its Morton Prince Award for Scientific Achievement in recognition of his research and publications in the area of trauma and dissociation among Latino populations. As a professor of psychology at Carlos Albizu University in Puerto Rico, he conducts epidemiological research on trauma reactions, traumatic memories, and dissociative reactions in children and adolescents.

Ashley Maynard, PhD, is the new chair of the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology, which represents 300 of the nation's graduate psychology programs. Maynard is a professor and chair of the psychology department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, where she studies how cultural change, such as economic and sociodemographic shifts, affects socialization and cognition in childhood.

Clemson University has presented June J. Pilcher, PhD, with its Class of '39 Award for Excellence, which honors a faculty member, chosen by his or her peers, who represents the highest achievement of service to the student body and university. Pilcher is an alumni distinguished professor of psychology at Clemson, where she has taught 15 years, and conducts research on sleep habits and sleep deprivation.

Chris Podlesnik, PhD, an associate professor at the Florida Institute of Technology, has won the 2016 Federation of Associations in Behavior and Brain Sciences Early Career Impact Award. His work has informed treatments for problem behavior and substance abuse.

Michael Wessells, PhD, has won a 2016 award from the Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University his work on the reintegration of child soldiers in Sierra Leone. Wessells, a professor of clinical population and family health at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health, has spent decades studying how war and political violence affect children.
