Join the fight for parity rights

Even though federal law requires insurers to cover mental health and addiction treatments, many patients still find their claims denied and struggle to understand their mental health coverage. To raise awareness of this problem and empower patients to fight for their legal rights, APA has joined the "Don’t Deny Me" campaign, a national consumer movement that urges politicians, insurance companies and attorneys general to enforce parity laws and ensure equal access. The campaign calls for patients to file appeals and register complaints against health plans that fail to provide equitable mental health and addiction coverage, and provides sample social media messages that psychologists and patients can post.
