Tools and resources for stressed parents

The COVID-19 pandemic is stressing parents around the world. For anyone struggling to parent calmly, APA’s ACT Raising Safe Kids Program offers evidence-based positive parenting resources in both English and Spanish that guide parents on ways to create stable, safe, and nurturing environments for young children and on preventing child neglect and abuse. Fact sheets offer guidance on typical behavior for children at each age and advice on how to handle common challenges, like a grocery store tantrum. The early intervention program has been shown to reduce child abuse and is used throughout 15 countries and in more than 100 communities in the United States. Last fall, every county in Iowa also began offering the program through an extension program at Iowa State University. Find all the ACT parenting resources and more information about the program online.
