Davis Weyerhaeuser Award for faculty excellence to Lisseth Rojas-Flores, PhD, a professor of clinical psychology in the Department of Doctoral Psychology. Rojas-Flores’s work focuses on the impact of immigration enforcement on Latine children’s well-being.
The Gerontological Society of America has awarded Peter Lichtenberg, PhD, ABPP, one of the society’s highest honors, the 2024 Donald P. Kent Award. Lichtenberg, a professor of psychology at Wayne State University and the director of Wayne State’s Institute of Gerontology, received the award for exemplifying exceptional standards of professional leadership in gerontology through teaching, service, and interpretation of gerontology to the larger society.
Randi Martin, PhD, the Elma Schneider Professor of Psychological Sciences at Rice University in Texas, has received the 2024 Clifford T. Morgan Distinguished Leadership Award from the Psychonomic Society. Martin serves as director of the T.L.L. Temple Foundation Neuroplasticity Research Laboratory at Rice University. Her research focuses on cognitive neuroscience, the psychology and neuropsychology of language, and short-term memory.
The University of Kentucky’s Marc Cormier, PhD, has been named a fellow by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Cormier, associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion, also serves as director of counseling and performance psychology services for UK Athletics. His primary areas of research include the psychological aspects of sport injury, team cohesion, and mental skills training.
Laura Machia, PhD, has been named associate dean for academic initiatives and curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University. In her 12-year career at Syracuse University, she has served as a professor of psychology, director of the social psychology doctoral program, director of undergraduate studies in psychology, and associate chair of the psychology department.
Following the landfall of Hurricane Beryl on multiple Caribbean islands, Moses John Roderique, PhD, has been providing free mental health services to affected residents. His services include one-on-one consultations, trauma-informed care, and grief therapy. Roderique is a clinical psychologist and the chancellor of Royalty International University of Theological Education in Miami.
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has selected Anna Lau, PhD, as the 2024 James S. Jackson Memorial Award winner. Lau is a professor of psychology and Asian American studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and associate dean for inclusive excellence in the life sciences. Her research focuses on the mental health of culturally diverse youth.
