Those interested in more details on cognitive-behavioral methods of tackling smoking can watch Bonnie Spring in action--helping a smoker determine the patterns of her addiction and brainstorming ways to beat the habit--in "Smoking Cessation with Bonnie J. Spring."

In the APA-produced video, Spring consults with a patient and demonstrates how therapists can use various assessment tools to uncover the function smoking plays in a client's life. For example, Spring uses "pack wraps"--grids inserted into cigarette packs that clients use to record the time, day and situation in which they smoke each cigarette. The video also includes a discussion with Spring about the session.
