WASHINGTON — Following is a statement by Jennifer F. Kelly, PhD, president of the American Psychological Association, regarding the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the Affordable Care Act:
“The American Psychological Association is gratified that a majority of the U.S. Supreme Court has, once again, issued a ruling that preserves the Affordable Care Act. This decision will protect health and mental health care coverage for millions of Americans who would otherwise have no access to much-needed health insurance. We hope that this third ruling will be a message to those who continue to wish to undo a statute that has done so much good for so many people. Our governments, at all levels, should focus on ensuring that more people have access to physical and mental health care, rather than trying to deny it.”
