Washington — The American Psychological Association will provide institutions electronic access to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association with the release of the APA Style Manual, a full-text resource that provides comprehensive APA Style support.

With an accessible, mobile-responsive, and annotatable format, the APA Style Manual will serve as a library’s official source for APA Style and the leading resource to train students and researchers to write with clarity, precision and inclusion. This product will become available this summer.

“APA Style has set standards for publishing in the field of psychology since 1929,” said Arthur C. Evans Jr., APA’s chief executive officer. “Over the years, we have sought to increase its impact—now reaching many other disciplines, including other STEM fields and the arts, and spanning higher and secondary education. Providing electronic access to the APA Style Manual reflects both our desire to support lifelong learning and our continued commitment to accessibility and inclusion.”

An institutional subscription to the APA Style Manual will provide unlimited, full-text access to the Publication Manual ebook, as well as interactive lessons that present guidelines in an engaging and approachable way to support students, researchers and instructors. APA Style is used in more than 70% of college degree programs in the United States, across disciplines including psychology, social work, nursing, business, education and communications.

“The APA Style Manual will help scholars at all levels by being the library’s official source for APA Style and for writing clearly and inclusively,” said Jasper Simons, APA’s chief publishing officer. “Our library partners have been asking for this resource for a long time, and we appreciate their support and feedback. By releasing the Publication Manual with APA Style lessons for academic institutions, we can meet the needs of more students and educators who use APA Style for their research and coursework."

The Publication Manual has been in constant production and circulation since it debuted in 1952. The book has been translated into 13 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, Polish, Greek, Thai, complex and simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Turkish. More than 17 million copies of the Publication Manual have sold across editions and formats.
