In July 2018, APA’s Office on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity was awarded a grant for a five-year cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH). The grant is for $250,000 per year and begins Aug. 1, 2018. The grant will support strengthening the effectiveness of initiatives to create and maintain safe and supportive environments in schools. APA’s primary responsibilities are to assess and build capacity of 35 local education agencies funded by CDC/DASH, to cooperate with DASH in providing that assistance, and to collaborate with other national organizations also funded by DASH.
This grant continues CDC supported APA safe and supportive schools work.
