Miguel Gallardo, PhD Miguel Gallardo, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and associate professor of psychology at Pepperdine University. There, he teaches courses on multicultural and social justice, intimate/partner violence and advises organizations on professional development issues. His research interests include Chicano/Latino psychology, culture and disability, and recruitment and retention of Latina/os in higher education. Additionally, he serves as the director of Aliento, the Center for Latina/o Communities at Pepperdine University. Gallardo also maintains an independent practice where he conducts bilingual legal forensic/medical and immigrant evaluations and psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. Furthermore, he advises organizations and universities on how to develop culturally responsive systems.

In the past, Gallardo has served as the president of the California Latino Psychological Association and chair of APA’s Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs. He is an APA Fellow and the director of research and evaluation at the Multi-Ethnic Collaborative of Community Agencies, a non-profit organization that partners community-based service providers with monolingual Arab, Farsi, Korean, Vietnamese and Spanish communities. Previously, Gallardo served as the California Psychological Association’s president and Diversity Task Force chair. Gallardo is serving his second term in the governor-appointed role on the California Board of Psychology.
